Family Farm Quilts began in 1983, in the basement of the Amish-Mennonite home of John and Ann Lapp and their eight children. In time, the business
expanded, the children grew up, and the shop was moved to a larger location. Today there are two shops, seperately owned by two of the sons.
At Family Farm Quilts of Shady Maple, we offer a wide variety of top quality quilts ranging from the old fashioned patchwork and homespun styles, to appliques, and more recently a line of Victorian patterns. Because we own our quilts, we are able to offer you some of the best prices in Lancaster County Managing the quilt making process is still Ann's job. She chooses patterns, colors, and fabrics, and sends them out to over 200 Amish and Mennonite ladies who piece, applique, and quilt hundreds of quilts and wallhangings each year. Included in our shop are many other crafts made by Amish, Mennonite, and other local crafts people. These include wallhangings, pillows, dolls, angels, placemats, tablerunners, chair pads, homespun crafts, Amish items, and beautiful Amish-made baskets. Lots of non-fabric country decorations are available to compliment our homemade crafts. We continue to add new items and seasonal displays, especially at Christmas. You will want to be sure to take time to include a visit to our shop the next time you come to Lancaster County. We are located along Route 23, one half mile east of Blue Ball, PA in the Shady Maple Smorgasboard complex, on the lower level of the Country Home Furniture store. We look forward to seeing you soon. |
